"Stocks I Own" is really what Daniel's Report is all about. I love the stock market. I love investing in companies. And I know long-term investing in common stocks is one of the best ways in the world for the common man to build and protect wealth over the long-term. Make no mistake, I enjoy short-term, high-risk/high-reward trading as well (and I've been very successful at it), but short-term trading takes a huge amount of focus and can become very stressful over time. Long-term investing, however, is something very different. There are few things in the world more satisfying than making a smart, long-term investment, and then watching that investment work for you over time. You don't have to go to work to make that stock's value grow (someone else does that for you). You don't have to sweat the daily market fluctuations or the accounting changes because you know you're investing in a good business with quality management for the long-term. Long-term stocks are a truly amazing way to build and protect wealth.
In today's fast paced world, it seems many people (professionals and amateurs) have completely forgotten how to invest in stocks. Institutional investment managers, average Joes, and company boards are often way too focused on quarterly earnings and short-term stock price movements. They forget that stocks represent ownership in companies. They watch as exchange-traded-funds drive security corrrelations up and simultaneously increase market volatility, but they forget behind all of the noise are businesses, and good businesses, with quality management will grow, perhaps tremendously, over the long-term.
And as the value of your investments compound, year after year, your appreciation for investing in stocks (the old fashioned way, the long-term way) will grow, and so will your wealth.
